Wash & Care
Organic cotton lasts a long time if you treat it well. Five habits and your opi&max socks will outlast your washing machine.
The short version
- Wash at 30°C with similar colours.
- Turn socks inside out before washing.
- Skip the fabric softener — it coats the fibres and reduces breathability.
- Air dry when you can. Tumble dry low only if you must.
- Avoid bleach and aggressive stain removers.
Why 30°C is enough
Modern detergents work well at low temperatures. 30°C cleans your socks, saves around 40% of the energy of a 60°C wash, and is much gentler on the elastane that gives the cuff its grip.
When to wash at 60°C
If a household member is unwell or you're washing socks worn after illness, a 60°C cycle is fine occasionally. Our socks are colour-fast and dimensionally stable at higher temperatures — just expect a touch more wear over time.
Drying
Air drying flat is best. If you tumble dry, use a low setting and remove the socks while still slightly damp to keep the shape. Never dry directly on a radiator — the heat damages elastane.
Storage
Pair them flat (not balled together — it stretches the cuff). A simple drawer divider keeps things calm.
When a sock is past its life
Cotton is a natural fibre. Worn-out socks can go into textile recycling — most German cities have a dedicated bin, or you can post them back to us for free and we'll recycle them with our partner.
